French fries contain a toxic substance called acrylamide that can form in the food during the high temperature used in its production. Exposure to an increased amount of this substance has been shown to increase the risk of several cancers such as endometrial and ovarian cancer.

5. Increases the risk of diabetes
Asides from causing obesity which is a risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes, they increase the likelihood of the development of insulin resistance further worsening these disease conditions.
These are also due to the refined sugars it contains.
6. Neurological damage
Acrylamide which happens to be the major carcinogen in french fries also cause brain damage and affect nerve impulse transmissions. It increases the risk of development of neurodegenerative diseases, causes poor muscle coordination, and muscle weakness.
Several effects of french fries such as addiction to it and increase in the number of slow-moving sperms in males exist, so avoidance of this food is best advised. Again, healthier ways of consumption of your potatoes exist like boiling, baking, or even opting out for yam instead of potatoes. Also using healthier oils for frying can go a long way in preserving your health.
